Code Sharing site?

Postby dnhkng » Sun Jul 08, 2012 7:58 am

Hi,
I am just starting with Moai, after using Corona and Gideros for some time. One of the apparent benefits of Moai is the extensibility of this SDK.

Is there a planned place to share code, similar to Corona's site? http://developer.coronalabs.com/code/

I would like to access the iOS camera and camera roll, but I don't have the ObjC skills to do this, but I can imagine code that does this being shared.

I think the Wiki is a pretty good place to share code right now, but also the better place to share code like iOS camera integration is: http://github.com/moai/moai-dev/

Not trying to be smart or anything, but if someone does do Camera integration, I'd hope it'd get its way into moai-dev as quickly as possible ..

Also, there are a lot of nuggets buried in this forum. It might be nice and easy for the zipline guys to set up a sub-forum: "Contributed Code & Snippets"

I think a code snippets forum would be a great idea!

Hi,

I did the integration with camera and camera roll for version 0.95. After a busy time, I'm going to retake moai. My next step is to merge the changes with the latest version of Moai, and sharing the code, of course. The best way of doing this is to fork the github.com/moai/moai-dev and perform the changes there, isn't it?

Great! looking forward to trying the camera and camera roll out! :D

I have some delauney triangulation and voronoi decomposition code written in lua to share. Just waiting for the admins to add a forum section or webpage to upload it.

That's correct, fork moai-dev, make your changes, and then submit a pull request and we'll get it merged in.

Hey dnhkng, that voronoi decomposition sounds interesting, why don't we just start a thread called 'interesting moai code' or something, wherein such things could be posted, and then at least discussed in a separate thread elsewhere, or something?

I don't have much of anything interesting to contribute these days, mostly because I'm busy with work apps (which are off-limits for public posting, obviously), but I try to keep my MOAI chops up at home with some small personal thing, when I can. I'm trying to get the code down to implement a box2d-based platformer in some small project, based on some of the iforce2d tutorials, and MOAI is really a great environment to do such things in, but .. its a matter of time, alas. If I come up with some snippet/interesting thing, I'd be sure to post it..

Same as Ibisum here... I still have some 5-6 weeks of crunch time at client's projects but after that I plan to get back to my personal work which will involve full time Moai coding - and I plan to share most of that code.
In the meantime, I might be posting some code snippets that I will work after hours or on weekends.
